Try to imagine what western civilization would be without the contributions of the highly influential people listed below. These scientists, philosophers, artists, statesmen shaped our modern day culture to such a degree that it might even be argued that we would not have the world we have today if they had not existed.
Where would we be, for example, without the enormous contributions made by Isaac Newton, Plato or Benjamin Franklin?
Why were they able to stand out from the crowd? What did they know that enabled them to excell?

What do these historical figures have in common beyond high levels of success and the enormous contributions to our culture and our understanding and appreciation of the world around us?
The answer is that the one big thing that they have in common is that they were all professed students of the Hermetica, which is the foundational and philosophical basis of the so-called Ancient Mystery Schools as well as being the basis for the European Enlightenment and the more recent American New Thought Movement.
Some noteworthy proponents of the highly influential New Thought Movement included Ralph Waldo Emerson, famous American essayist and philosopher; William Walker Atkinson, author of Thought Vibration; Henry David Thoreau, author and philosopher; James Allen, author of As A Man Thinketh; Ernest Holmes, author of Science of Mind; Charles Haanel, author of The Master Key; Orison Swett Marden, author of Prosperity – How to Attract It; Catherine Ponder, author of The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity; Ralph Waldo Trine, author of In Tune With The Infinite; Thomas Troward, author of the Edinborough Lectures; and William James, psychiatrist, father of American Philosophy and author of The Varieties of Religious Experience.
